What is the importance of presence or being in the moment? Learn practical ways to communicate and love people who live with dementia by learning from Karen Stobbe, an experienced educator in the field of dementia. Karen Stobbe’s dad was diagnosed with dementia more than 25 years ago and since that time, she has dedicated her life and skills as a theater professional into training others.
Who should attend? Caregivers, family members of those with dementia, elder care professionals, or anyone interested in learning how to use improvisation to help others.
Who is Karen Stobbe? Karen is a nationally known actress, director, writer and instructor of theatre who has presented at over 700 workshops, keynotes and performances, including Pioneer Network and Eden Alternative. Karen is co-writer of all the scripts and content for the Hand in Hand Training Toolkit produced by CMS. Karen’s life took on a new focus and new meaning when her dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Karen combined the knowledge of her two worlds into one life work. Her presentation will focus on how we relate to those with Alzheimer’s by changing our behavior, listening more deeply, and being more in the moment.
