Deathtrap
Derby Dinner Playhouse
Ira Levin’s play, which debuted on Broadway in 1978 and went on to earn a Tony nomination for Best Play, also holds the record for…
…the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway due to its four-year run. The story concerns a successful murder mystery writer who has run out of creative ideas, and who will do anything to have another hit… even murder! When the 1982 film version, starring Michael Caine, Christopher Reeve and Dyan Cannon was released, New York Times film critic Janet Maslin wrote: “There hasn’t been a stylish, sneaky, cat-and-mouse movie like Deathtrap since (1972’s) Sleuth.”
