This small indulgence might seem like a frivolous expense, but the benefits you’ll receive from it can pay off in a big way. Here is a luxurious service that can improve your health and quality of life.
Full Body Massage: Baptist Health Milestone Wellness Center
Expert: Anne Schneiter, massage therapist
What it is: Baptist Health Milestone offers three types of massages: deep tissue, pre- and post-natal, and Swedish. All three can be full-body at the client’s request. The deep tissue massage is reminiscent of a sports massage. It’s good for muscle pain when clients want a deeper-tissue approach. The therapist will apply a harder form of pressure in order to work out the muscle soreness, knots, and fatigue. The Swedish massage is a more general, all-encompassing, full body experience. It increases circulation while relaxing the client. It’s great for stress reduction.
Preparations: If a client has an acute medical condition like recent surgery or a new diagnosis, consult with a doctor or physical therapist first.
Cost: Varies, depending on time length of massage. All three massages are the same price. Sixty minutes is $70 for Baptist Health Wellness members or $75 for nonmembers. Seventy-five minutes is $80 for members, $85 for nonmembers. Ninety minutes is $95 for members, $100 for nonmembers.
Time commitment: Massages can run from 30 to 90 minutes at the client’s request, although the most common is 60 minutes.
Benefits: “I like to think of the massage as part of our health maintenance,” Anne says. She says benefits include increased circulation and mobility as well as stress reduction.
